Announcing the Alex Patenaude Compassion Award
• Alex attended Nishuane, Hillside, Glenfield and Montclair High School (Class of 2015). Alex was a great listener, highly observant, and always willing to take action to help a friend. This award has been designed to honor his legacy in Montclair. Have you been involved in an act of kindness? Whether you were kind or someone was kind to you, we want to hear about it. Submit your nominations to BIT.LY/ALEXCOMPASSION. Nominations will be accepted until May 1, 2019.

Spring Book Fair
The Bradford Spring Book Fair is next week and we need your help! Please consider signing up to work for a shift at the fair. It's Tuesday March 19th - Thursday March 21st - The fair will also stay open Thursday night, 6:30 - 8:30pm, for the FULL STEAM AHEAD event at the school. We are excited to be partnering with Watchung Booksellers again this year. Please find the link for the signup genius here.

Make A Date For Family Skate 3/16!
• Bradford's Family Skate will take place 11:15 am – 1:15 pm. Saturday, March 16th at Clary Anderson Arena, 41 Chestnut Street. Please find the flyer for registration waiver here. The waiver is also on our PTA website with all skate day information. Please help support the PTA by making some treats for the bake sale that will accompany this fun event. All bake sale items can be dropped off at the rink after 10:45 AM on the 16th. Thanks!!

Bradford Spanish Club
• La escuela de Bradford acaba de crear un club de español. Nuestro objetivo es fomentar el idioma entre estudiantes, padres y maestros y a la vez servir como recurso para la comunidad hispanohablante de Bradford. Nuestra primera actividad será una mesa de conversación, que tendrá lugar el lunes 1 de abril de 3:05-3:35 en la biblioteca. ¡Todos están invitados! • Bradford Elementary School just created a Spanish Club to foster Spanish language among students, parents, and staff. The club also serves as a resource for the Spanish-speaking community at Bradford. We will host a Spanish conversation table on Monday, April 1st from 3:05-3:35 pm in the library. Elementary School Students: Mindful Parenting in an Anxious World
• Dr. Shannon Albarelli, Clinical Psychologist and Certified Mindfulness and Meditation Teacher, will speak to the growing anxiety epidemic and address specific tools and techniques parents/guardians can use for themselves, their children and families to lead a more calm, balanced and joyful life. Will be held on April 4th from 7-8:30 pm in the Hillside School Auditorium.

Anxiety in Middle School Students: How Parents/Guardian Can Help
 • Dr. Nicole Garcia and Dr. Danielle Dubbioso are Clinical Psychologists who will share how parents/guardians can help their adolescent cope with and move through this complex time in their lives. Time will be saved at the end of the presentation for general questions and brief private consultations for more confidential questions. Will be held on March 20th from 7-8:30 pm in the Hillside Auditorium. Also, Anxiety in High School Children: How Parents/Guardians Can Help, will be held on March 26th in the Hillside Auditorium.

Car Line Drop-Off
• As an ongoing reminder, when arriving to the car line drop-off please refrain from driving around other cars waiting in line and cutting other cars off, both at the corner of Mt. Hebron Rd. and College Ave., as well as on the car line on College Ave. As you know, it is a very busy time during drop-off and multiple students are crossing at the crosswalk. Please remember to always slow down and be patient.

Montclair Special Education Parent Advisory Council or SEPAC
• SEPAC is a volunteer group of parents and guardians that provide input to the Montclair School District as well as support and information to parents and caregivers of children with special needs. Montclair SEPAC meets monthly to share information, best practices and ideas; raise and resolve concerns; and ensure that issues affecting children with special needs are given the attention they deserve by the School District. It also designates parents of children with disabilities in particular schools to be liaisons to other parents seeking information about special education in those schools. The next SEPAC meeting will be on Tuesday, March 26th from 7-9pm in the Hillside School Auditorium. This meeting will feature a presentation on “Executive Functions, ADHD, and Their Impact on Learning,” by Dr. Paul Yellin, Director of the Yellin Center for Mind, Brain, and Education.

The Bradford Reader
• The Bradford Reader wants you! We especially want your child’s short stories, poems, and drawings. We are currently accepting submissions for the 2019 version of the Bradford Reader. We love poems, essays, doodles, musings and drawings. Did your child write something cool over winter break or write a poem that deserves to be shared with the world? Kindergarten parents---we'll have a special section for young writers. Parents of 5th graders--we'll have a special section dedicated for those moving on. The second deadline for submissions is on 4/25/2019. Please email all submissions here. Don't miss this fantastic chance to share your child's work with world. Thank you

School Spirit Days
• Fridays are “School Spirit Days,” at Bradford, where students will be encouraged to wear either a Bradford or a favorite college/university shirt. Or just wear blue and yellow! Please encourage your child to show his or her school spirit every Friday.
