On October 23, Northeast Elementary held its first Global Fall Festival, a celebration of fall festivals and holiday traditions from around the world, including: Diwali, Oktoberfest, Chuseok, Sukkot, Tet Trung Thu, Eid al-adha, Festa Junina, Homowo, and Dia de los Muertos.

More than 450 students and caregivers attended the event, which featured traditional foods, crafts, face painting, and carnival games. There was also a DJ and live performances of the Lion Dance, Kathak dancing, Korean Fan dancing, and African drumming.

Northeast is Montclair’s global magnet and “we wanted to bring that identity to life for the entire community,” said Northeast PTA President Allison Task, adding she hopes the Global Fall Festival becomes an annual event.
