Heat Advisory

Greetings Montclair Public Schools Families:

As you know, the safety of our students is of the utmost importance. Therefore, in anticipation of rising temperatures tomorrow, we are encouraging students to remain hydrated with plenty of water. Students are invited to bring water bottles with them to school tomorrow.

For your consideration, there are four schools with end-of-year award ceremonies tomorrow, and parents/guardians have made arrangements to attend these programs. Additionally, I am very mindful of the need to provide timely communications with families requiring childcare support. Accordingly, I elected not to close early tomorrow as such a decision would result in all after school events being canceled and giving parents/guardians minimal planning time to adjust for childcare.

If your child has a medical condition that we should be aware of given the expected temperature tomorrow, please inform your child's principal and school nurse. Also, principals will be asked, to the extent possible, to relocate students to "cooler" areas in the building. Moving forward, we will explore how best to manage these extremely hot days with minimal impact to students, staff and parents/guardians.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Have a great evening!

Dr. Kendra V. Johnson
Superintendent
